Human Rights Abuses in S. Korea under Fire
Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The authorities' human rights abuses were recently disclosed in south Korea to spark off strong social furor.

When a prisoner allegedly involved in the conspiratorial university lecturer spy case ended his meeting with his family last year, fascist maniacs of Jonju Prison forced him to strip himself naked under the pretext of finding out prohibited things.

The prisoner declared he could not repress indignation and hatred against the "government" which stoops to any human rights abuse after unreasonably detaining him on charge of espionage.

He said that what he did was nothing but the visit to the north legally paid by him on the basis of understanding that national reunification is important for him, a member of the nation.

For this he was put under absurd charge of being a spy and forced to leave his family and society and now is denied even elementary human right, he protested.

Recalling that Chosun Ilbo and other conservative media are busy releasing malignant misinformation about his espionage, he declared this is absolutely intolerable.

The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and various other organizations held a press conference outside Jonju Prison to denounce the human rights abuse on April 20 and demanded the authorities release prisoners of conscience and repeal the inhumane "security law."
