Strained Relations between Sudan and South Sudan
Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) -- The relations between Sudan and South Sudan are now inching close to the brink of a war.

On April 10 Sudanese army attacked Heglig oil field in South Kordofan State bordering South Sudan and seized a lot of war materials and captured many troops of the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLM).

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir in a TV speech on April 19 said that everything will not be over with occupation of Heglig and "fighting is the only way to resolve differences with South Sudan."

The past disputes between Sudan and South Sudan were sparked off by foreign forces coveting for natural resources. They left two million dead and produced four million refugees for the past two decades until South Sudan's independence.

The international community hopes that both sides will settle the bilateral issues by themselves free from outside interference through dialogue at an early date.
