Evening Gala of Youth and Students Held in DPRK
Pyongyang, April 16 (KCNA) -- An evening gala of youth and students was held Monday evening at Kim Il Sung Square in celebration of the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.

Present there on invitation were senior party, state and army officials and delegates celebrating the centenary of the birth of the President, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, officials in the fields of science, education, arts and literature, public health and media, heroes, meritorious workers, overseas compatriots, the chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, foreign diplomatic envoys, representatives of international bodies and staff members of the military attaches corps here, participants in the World Congress on the Juche Idea and the international festival commemorating the centenary of the birth of the President and the 28th April Spring Friendship Art Festival and other foreign guests.

When the gala started with the playing of "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and the display of fireworks, the youth and students presented the sea of happy and excited dancers on the square.

To the tunes of songs "Let Us Sing of the Day of the Sun", "Song of Mangyongdae" and "We Sing of Our Motherland Holding the Leader in High Esteem", the participants danced in their boundless reverence and trust in the President and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The sightseeing ships sailing on the Taedong River and dazzling fireworks continuously shot up from the river, Janggu dances and colorful acrobatic programs presented on the stage added to the atmosphere of the gala.

Overseas compatriots and foreign guests joined the dancers, adding to the cheerful mood.
