U.S., Wrecker of Peace and Security of Korean Peninsula: DPRK Delegate
Pyongyang, April 16 (KCNA) -- The Korean Peninsula is the place with the biggest danger of a nuclear war in the world, the DPRK delegate said in a speech at the recent annual meeting of the UN Disarmament Commission.

He noted that the U.S. is staging large-scale joint military exercises in south Korea and its vicinity, pushing the situation to the brink of war. The U.S. has also deployed lots of nuclear weapons in south Korea from the 1950s, pushing forward the preparations for a nuclear war, he pointed out.

He went on: The sitguation goes to prove that it is the U.S. that has wrecked the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.

The U.S. frequent military actions are not only increasing the danger of a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula but compelling the DPRK and the countries around it to intensify their deterrent.

The U.S. military presence in south Korea has only caused persistent division and increased the confrontation between the north and the south and the danger of war, not promoting reconciliation, cooperation and reunification between the north and the south.

The worst inter-Korean relations are attributable to the U.S. unprecedented joint military exercises and its undisguised instigation of south Korea's policy for confrontation.

It is the consistent stand of the DPRK government to ensure the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and realize its denuclearization through dialogue and negotiations.

Referring to the recent DPRK-U.S. talks, the DPRK delegate stressed that the DPRK remains unchanged in its stand to sincerely implement the DPRK-U.S. agreement and has already showed with fidelity its will to implement the agreement by inviting the IAEA delegation.
