Pyongyang in Festive Mood on Day of Sun
Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- April 15 marks the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.

On this occasion the Korean people and the world revolutionary people are splendidly commemorating the Day of the Sun, a holiday common to humankind.

The news that the 4th Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 5th Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly elected the dear respected Kim Jong Un to the top post of the party and the state has stirred up the celebration atmosphere.

Servicepersons and civilians placed floral baskets and flowers before statues of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill.

With deep yearning for the President, who built a socialist country in Korea and gave continuity to leadership, they hardened their resolve to remain faithful to the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.

The Mansudae Art Studio, where statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are standing, was also crowded with visitors paying respects to them.

Ho Jae Sun, an old man who visited the mosaics portraying smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on Jangdae Hill with his family, told KCNA:

When I look up to the image of the smiling President, I can't repress deep yearning for him who devoted his all to the people's happiness.

Foreigners visited the statues to lay floral baskets and flowers, and paid tribute to the President and the leader, who made great contributions to accomplishing the cause of global independence.

Streets of Pyongyang are decorated with national flags, large visual boards, electronic displays and posters.

The city became more beautiful with azaleas, royal azaleas, golden-bell flowers and apricot trees coming into bloom.
