Russia's Music Conductor, Well Known to Koreans
Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- Stanislav Semyonovich Kalinin, who is attending the 28th April Spring Friendship Art Festival now under way in Pyongyang, is a conductor of the Chorus Troupe of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Russia, well known to Korean people.

He was awarded a top prize at the festival held in Juche 92 (2003).

A dean of the conservatory's faculty, Kalinin had the honor to be received by General Secretary Kim Jong Il on four occasions.

He told KCNA:

Kim Jong Il had conversations with me about arts and life on several occasions. To my astonishment, he was very meticulous and had profound knowledge about the arts.

And, he is a model of statesmen as he showed how to guide and glorify the state.

"Song of General Kim Il Sung" is a famous song that represents admiration and deep reverence of the world's people for him. As the song is very rhythmic, it requires to be sung with vigor and deep emotions.

All members of the Chorus Troupe are young. I would like to give them an opportunity to witness the splendid looks of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

I witness many changes taking place in Pyongyang each time I come here.

New apartment buildings were modernly built in the city, including the Mansudae area. And, I feel the city throbbing with vigor.

Kim Jong Il sent a gift to the conductor in October last year, congratulating him on his 70th birthday. And he was awarded honorary professorship of Kim Won Gyun Pyongyang Conservatory and Order of DPRK Friendship 2nd Class.
