Day of Sun Commemorated in at Least 170 Countries, Regions
Pyongyang, April 14 (KCNA) -- This year marks the 15th anniversary of the institution of April 15, the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, as the Day of the Sun in the DPRK.

In this period at least 9,500 colorful political and cultural events took place in more than 170 countries and regions and over 3,000 foreign media gave wide publicity to the Day of the Sun.

On the occasion of the first Day of the Sun preparatory committees made up of high-ranking government officials and political party leaders were formed in different countries. Resolutions, appeals and statements were issued one after another to greet this day as traditional international holiday and great festival common to mankind.

Party, state and government heads and figures of various circles of many countries sent floral baskets to DPRK missions in token of their tribute to the President.

At least 1,000 colorful events took place in more than 80 countries.

The great men of Mt. Paektu were presented with personal letters and gifts by heads of state, political party leaders, heads of governments, organizations, institutions, international organizations and individuals of different countries.

Foreign media gave wider publicity to the tenth Day of the Sun in April than ever before.

Book "Greatest Man" was published in Democratic Congo and bulletins were issued by political parties and organizations of Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy, UK, Brazil, the U.S. and Egypt.

News agencies, newspapers, broadcasting services, magazines and Internet websites of foreign countries carried special write-ups with portraits and photos of the President and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and televisions showed Korean films.

Brisk preparations were made worldwide to significantly greet the Day of the Sun this year.

Prominent figures of governments, political parties, organizations and institutions of various countries paid congratulatory visits to the DPRK missions day by day and political parties, organizations and figures of various circles issued statements in the run-up to the Day of the Sun.
