Participants in Int'l Festival Visit Old Home
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- The delegations and delegates of various countries and regions and international bodies taking part in the international festival to mark the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung visited the old home of leader Kim Jong Il in the secret camp in Mt. Paektu on Thursday.

They placed floral baskets and bunches of flowers before the statue of the President on the shore of Lake Samji and the mosaic depicting the images of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu erected in the secret camp and paid tribute to them.

After being briefed on the Samjiyon Grand Monument, they looked round the group of sculptures of subsidiary theme.

A meeting took place in front of the home.

Speeches were made there.

Anders Kristensen, chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association, said that the old home of Kim Jong Il is enshrined in the minds of progressive mankind aspiring after the independence as a holy place of the sun, adding that the history of the great man will last forever.

Christer Lundgren, chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, expressed the will to help an increasing number of people know about the greatness and feats of the great persons of Mt. Paektu and positively support the Korean people's cause of building a thriving nation.

Genki Nakamura, chairman of the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange, noted that Kim Jong Il was an outstanding political elder who defended the world peace and led the cause of human independence to victory, steering the international political trend with Songun politics.

The participants heard the recital of impromptu poems by Lyudmila Abzeyeva, writer of the Russian Union of Writers, and Alejandro Cao de Benos, chairman of the Korean Friendship Association headquartered in Spain.

They were titled "The smile shining in the sky over Jong Il Peak" and "We Shout on Mt. Paektu."

So Ho Won, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is secretary general of the Korean preparatory committee for celebrating the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, thanked the international preparatory committee and national preparatory committees, the friendship and solidarity organizations, non-governmental international bodies and figures of different circles for their sincere efforts made for the successful holding of the international festival.

The participants saw relics inside the home, being briefed on the fact that Kim Jong Il grew up, hearing gunfire during the anti-Japanese war.

They had pictures taken in front of the home against the background of Jong Il Peak.
