Branch School on Rap Islet of DPRK
Pyongyang, April 11 (KCNA) -- On Rap Islet in the west sea of Korea, there is a branch school operating for the light-keepers' children.

In Jong Sun, who has worked as a teacher at the school for 18 years, told KCNA that the branch school could operate on a normal basis, backed by the sincere assistance of servicepersons.

She said:

During a winter school vacation 12 years ago, I was staying on the land to prepare for a new-school-term education at the mother school in Sinuiju City. As the school opening day approached, I was worried, for fear that I would not be able to reach the islet in time, because blocks of ices had left the sea route closed.

Upon hearing the news, servicepersons took me to the islet onboard a large-sized diesel boat.

Later, they built a playground in the branch school and supplied teaching materials to it.

A film featuring their admirable deeds came out years ago.

There was no enrollment in the school for a few years but it has existed as ever.

Two children are now studying at the school.

Such a kind of schools are scattered on islets in the east and west sea of Korea.
