Pyongyang, April 11 (KCNA) -- Experts on space science and technology and media persons from different countries Wednesday visited the General Satellite Control and Command Center in Pyongyang in the run-up to the DPRK's launch of the first working satellite.

They heard with keen attention that general secretary Kim Jong Il visited the modern Center on April 5, 2009 after its construction and observed the liftoff of Kwangmyongsong-2.

The Center, a comprehensive center for observing and controlling satellites of Kwangmyongsong series, is also a base for conducting scientific researches essential for the development of the national economy including earth observation and communications.

The Center is equipped with command communications system and computer intranet for calculation and data service concerning lift-off and observation and all facilities for controlling satellites.

The final preparations for the blast-off of earth observation satellite Kwangmyongsong-3 are now under way at the Center.

The visitors looked round the general command room.

They had detailed understanding of the mission of the general command room to gather real-time data on observation of satellites from the observatories in several places inside the country and handle them and thus monitor satellites, confirm their orbit and command the overall system of control and command on the ground.

They also learned about the assembling of the carrier rocket and preparations for the lift-off at the Sohae Launching Station on the screen in the control room.
