Commemorative Coins to Be Issued in DPRK
Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- The DPRK will issue commemorative coins in honor of the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.

A decree on issuing the coins was released on Monday by the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly.

Commemorative coin "100th Anniversary of Birth of Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" will be minted in gold and silver.

Depicted in the center of the coins will be the portrait of a smiling Kim Il Sung with letters "Birth of Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" in their upper part and "1912-100th Anniversary-2012" in their lower part.

The portrait is flanked by decorative laurels with a hundred points rimming the coin meaning the 100th anniversary.

Engraved in the center of the tails is the President's old home in Mangyongdae with rays of the sun in the background as well as fineness and weight on their both sides.

The upper part has carved letters reading "Central Bank of the DPRK" and the lower part the year of minting.

The gold coin is 40mm in diameter and 2.5mm in thickness while the silver one 45mm in diameter and 3.5mm in thickness.
