Food Festival Held in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- The 17th April Holiday Food Festival was held at the People's Palace of Culture from April 4 to 6.

The festival brought together 49 units selected from ministries and national institutions and provinces. It involved a contest in technical skill and demonstrations of cooks and waiters and waitresses, shows of local special dishes and famous dishes presented by catering units, an exhibition of achievements made in cooking science and technology, public presentation of experience, etc.

Presented to the festival were more than 1 300 national food and various kinds of dishes and over 400 pieces of scientific and technological successes.

Appreciated at the festival were popular food presented by restaurants under the General Bureau of Public Service including Okryu Restaurant, Chongryu Restaurant, Changgwang Restaurant Management Office and Chilsong Restaurant, catering units under the Kyonghung and Rakwon Guidance Bureaus and Taedonggang and Moranbong district restaurants management offices.

Drawing attention of experts and participants were varieties of food prepared with local specialties in South Hamgyong, North Phyongan and Jagang provinces and Rason City.

Also on display there were sturgeon, soft-shelled turtle, bullfrog and other famous dishes.

Conspicuous in the festival were a contest of cooks in the skills of cooking dishes before participants and waiters and waitresses' demonstrations of their refined skills and a high level of their service.

A closing ceremony took place on Friday.
