Day of Sun Commemorated in Russia, Equatorial Guinea
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Russian papers carried special write-ups and Equatorial Guinea TV aired a special program in the run-up to the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung (the Day of the Sun).

A Russian paper on March 28 carried an article titled "The centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung" with the portrait of a smiling President.

The article said: Mankind is to greet before long the centenary of the birth of the President, the great activist in the 20th century and the founder of socialist Korea.

He founded the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrillas, finally liberating Korea through his Songun revolutionary leadership and founded the Workers' Party of Korea and the first people's democratic state in the Orient.

The U.S. imperialists suffered the bitterest defeat in the Korean War in the 1950s for the first time in history by the Korean People's Army and the Korean people under the wise leadership of Kim Il Sung.

In the postwar period he resolutely turned down outsiders' offer for entry into the Council for Mutual Economic Assistances and firmly maintained the line of building the independent national economy, thereby successfully realizing the historic task of industrialization in a matter of 14 years.

The Russian paper Byvor on March 23 edited an article headlined "Undying feats of great man" with the portrait of a smiling President.

It noted: The Korean people call April 15 "the Day of the Sun". They are commemorating this day looking back on the life and feats of the President.

Equatorial Guinea TV on March 28 and 29 introduced the undying feats the President performed for the Korean revolution and global independence.
