Lee Myung Bak Regime's Crackdown on Media under Fire
Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- Civic and public elders in south Korea held a press conference on Mar. 29 supporting the strike of media trade unions.

A press release read out there noted that trade unions of KBS, MBC, Yonhap News and other major media launched strikes for an indefinite period all at once because the Lee Myung Bak regime has resorted to an indiscriminate control of media and crackdown upon them during its office.

It accused Lee Myung Bak of having worked hard to put media under control as evidenced by his acts of persecuting progressive media persons and appointing his confidants as managers of major media organizations.

It is natural and just for the media trade unions to have turned out in protests to win the freedom of media, the press release said, expressing the will to join all the people in unequivocally supporting their strike.

The media trade unions will surely emerge victorious in their strike, it concluded.
