Ensuring Peace on Korean Peninsula Is Priority Task: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- Peace and security in Asia-Pacific are essential for global peace and security.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a by-lined article.

It goes on:

Peace and security in the Asia Pacific pose themselves as a more serious issue on the Korean Peninsula.

The madcap war exercises and espionage were conducted in south Korea against the backdrop of the U.S. announcement of its new defense strategy with main emphasis on Asia-Pacific. This proved that they were mainly targeted against the DPRK and its neighboring countries.

They, at the same time, proved once again that Northeast Asia is a dangerous hotbed of a new world war.

Keeping pace with the U.S. strategy for world supremacy, the Japanese reactionaries are working hard to realize their wild ambition for overseas expansion. This has increased the threat to peace and security in Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world.

They have designated the DPRK as the primary target of their overseas aggression.

They are offering their islands as transit and logistic bases for the joint military exercises staged by the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces in south Korea.

No sooner had the DPRK announced its plan for launching a satellite than the anti-DPRK forces in Japan joined the U.S. in crying out for international pressure on it.

Such reckless acts of those forces resulted in escalating the tension on the peninsula and, furthermore, in Northeast Asia.

It is an urgent task of the times whose fulfillment brooks no further delay to ensure peace and security on the peninsula.
