Rodong Sinmun Discloses Dangerous Nature of U.S. Asia-Pacific Policy
Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The United States describes its policy of attaching importance to the Asia-Pacific as one for ensuring the regional "security and prosperity" and developing the "relations of cooperation" among the regional nations. But the policy is not for the regional nations.

Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a bylined article.

The core of the U.S. Asia-Pacific policy is a strategy for national defence, says the article, adding:

It is the keynote of the U.S. Asia-Pacific strategy to head off the emergence of challenging "dangerous forces" and powers by dint of military advantages and expand the scope of its hegemony.

The triangular military alliance on which the U.S. pins great hopes serves as a military means for realizing the strategy.

The purpose sought by the U.S., south Korea and Japan in regularly staging joint military exercises is to hold a military hegemony over the Asia-Pacific region, contain and press powers and rein in and stifle "potential rivals" with collective military actions.

The U.S. reinforcement of its armed forces and its tightened triangular military alliance in the Asia-Pacific region deserve caution from other big powers in the region.

The U.S. troops armed with nuclear weapons have been put on constant combat standby so that they can enter operations at any time.

The U.S. made south Korea a priority in its nuclear strategy aimed at holding military hegemony over the Asia-Pacific region.

It seeks to contain powers with an overwhelming number of nuclear weapons and advance the realization of the strategy.

The situation calls for sharpening the vigilance against the U.S. strategy to defend the peace and security of the Asia-Pacific region.
