S. Korean Expert Denies Story about "Cheonan" Warship's Sinking by Explosion
Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- An engineering expert belonging to the south Korean academy of science and technology recently refuted the results of the investigation made public by the "government" as regards the "Cheonan" warship sinking case.

He, when interviewed by Media Today on March 20, said that the warship was not sunk by explosion.

Referring to the fact that as shown by a photo contained in the report on the results of investigation, the part of the warship broken to two pieces was triangular, he said that "in case an explosion happened, the section of the ship would turn into something beyond recognition. From a physical point of view, the explosion cannot happen, causing such section".

He raised such a question as to how can the gas turbine and its cover be in good shape even after they were strongly shocked by an explosion, if it happened.

He held that it was obvious that the accident started when the warship ran on a rock in the light of the conditions of the bow and stern of the warship and its section, etc., when it was salvaged from the bottom of the sea at first.

Sin Sang Chol, member of the former joint investigation team, who had denied the ship's "sinking owing to explosion," reiterated his view at the court on March 19.

Had an explosion occurred, the upper part of the section should have gone, he held, adding that this goes to prove that something had directly dashed against the warship.
