Achievements Scored in Economic Sectors in 100 Days
Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- Signal achievements were witnessed in economic sectors of the DPRK in the past 100 days after the demise of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

In the first two months of the year, coal mines produced hundreds of thousands of tonnes more than the same period of the previous year.

The output hit a record high in February, which the birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il falls on.

The Pukchang Area Coal Mining Complex has overfulfilled its daily quota at 150 percent.

Innovations were registered also in mining iron ores at Musan Mining Complex, Unryul and Jaeryong Mines and in metal industrial sectors, including Posan Iron Works and Chongjin Steel Plant.

Electricity output was increased at thermal power plants across the country, and the February 8 Vinalon Complex and the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex sharply boosted production of vinalon and fertilizer.

In agriculture about 30,000 hectares of marshland had been reclaimed throughout the country as of the end of February.

Light industrial workers produced in large quantities various kinds of consumer goods conducive to the improvement of people's living.

The construction of high-rise apartment buildings, including a skyscraping building, is near completion in the Mansudae housing project.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people volunteered to work at laborious sites.
