Sports Activities Vigorous in 100 Days
Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- In 100 days after the demise of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, sports activities of the DPRK have hardened their determination to glorify the country with good results in tournaments, true to his behests.

The 21st Paektusan Prize International Figure Skating Festival was held at the Ice Rink in Pyongyang for three days to mark the Day of the Shining Star (February 16), the birthday of Kim Jong Il.

DPRK figure skaters showcased their ardent yearning for the leader with elegant movements.

To mark the day, a demonstration synchronized swimming took place at the swimming pool of Changgwang Health Complex in Pyongyang, under the theme "Yearning Will Be Everlasting".

There was the Paektusan Prize Sports Contest in Pyongyang and Samjiyon County, Ryanggang Province, including basketball, volleyball, table tennis and ice hockey events.

DPRK sportspersons also proved successful in international tournaments.

An Kum Ae and Sol Kyong won gold medals at 52 and 70 kg categories respectively in the 2012 World Cup Women's Judo Tournament.

And, DPRK footballers finished first in the 2012 Four-Nation Women's Soccer Invitation, the U-19 International Women Soccer "Spring of Kuban" and the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup.
