KNA, Organization for Anti-Japanese National Liberation Movement
Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- An indomitable revolutionary, Kim Hyong Jik, organized the Korean National Association (KNA) on March 23, Juche 6 (1917) in order to unite the people under the idea of independence against imperialism and give a momentum to the anti-Japanese national liberation movement.

In those days, nationalists were not taking a correct way of struggle, influenced by flunkeyism,

Conducting activities separately spontaneously, the anti-Japanese organizations failed to take their roots deep into the masses.

The situation required an organization which could afford to rally the people and give unified guidance over the anti-Japanese movement.

Thereby, Kim Hyong Jik energetically pushed ahead with the work for forming a new organization.

He toured several areas to get a firsthand knowledge of the independence movement, with Ponghwa-ri as the center of his activities.

He paid big efforts to rallying hardcore members, before anything else.

With full preparations, he formed the KNA in Haktanggol, Pyongyang.

The KNA was the biggest revolutionary anti-Japanese underground organization based on broad masses of people at a time when Korea was completely under the military rule of the Japanese imperialists.
