Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The mass art activities are brisk in the DPRK.

This movement helps improve the cultural level of citizens and make the whole society permeated with optimism and vigor.

The Workers' Party of Korea has long paid big efforts to it after setting forth the policy of popularizing art.

Whenever giving field guidance to different units President Kim Il Sung appreciated their art groups' performances so as to make the people creators and enjoyers of art.

The DPRK's mass art activities greeted a new golden age of development under the wise guidance of Kim Jong Il.

Leader Kim Jong Il initiated the performance of art groups of servicemen's wives and made it a tradition.

Whenever visiting industrial establishments and co-op farms, he enjoyed art pieces presented by soldiers and civilians and gave them precious teachings for further developing their artistic activities.

The national singing contest of working people and performances of art groups at ministries and national institutions well represent the true picture of the developing mass art in the DPRK.

Some days ago an Unhasu concert took place in Pyongyang to mark the International Women's Day. At the concert some of the audience joined its performers at their request, among them couples of senior party and military officials. Through their successful performance they displayed the vitality of mass art in the Songun (military-first) era.
