S. Korean Police under Fire for Justifying Their Suppression of Workers' Strike
Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- Various circles of south Korea on March 13 launched actions to denounce the puppet Police Agency for justifying the harsh crackdown on the strike of the workers of Ssangryong Motors.

The Ssangryong Motors Trade Union, the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the Federation of Metal Industrial Workers Unions and other labor organizations and human rights organizations held a press conference outside the building of the agency.

The organizations accused the agency of describing the police crackdown in 2009 as the "most successful" of the actions taken over the cases in recent three years.

They condemned the murderers for being pleased with the death of workers.

At the end of the press conference, six representatives including the branch head of the Ssangryong Motors Trade Union made an attempt to meet with the director of the agency to hand a written protest to him. Police, however, blocked them and walked them off. Infuriated by this, workers and human rights activists launch a sit-in strike all at once.

That day the Solidarity for Social Progress in a statement condemned the agency for praising its policemen's bloody action.

The statement demanded the agency make an apology to the unionists of Ssangryong Motors and their families and set free the arrested workers immediately.
