DPRK Premier Inspects Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex
Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- Choe Yong Rim, premier of the DPRK, acquainted himself with the production and technological updating at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex on the spot on Mar. 16.

The complex, which plays an important role in developing the metal industry of the country, is alive with a high-pitched drive to commemorate the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung and greet the conference of the Workers' Party of Korea with high political zeal and great labor successes.

The workers of the complex carried out the first phase technological updating of the curved type strand-casting machine on a high level and successfully introduced a device for making up for reactive power.

They are technologically updating the heating process of the hot rolling production while ensuring a full capacity operation of furnace No. 2.

Making the rounds of various places of the complex including blast furnaces Nos. 2 and 3 under overhaul, Choe encouraged the workers in their labor drive.

Choe held a consultative meeting with officials concerned on the spot.

The meeting reviewed the work done for implementing the last instructions of leader Kim Jong Il and steel production and the supply of raw materials and fuel to ensure the continuous operation of the blast furnace.

It also discussed working measures to settle the issues arising in satisfactorily supplying electricity and giving priority to the provision of raw materials and fuel to production processes and closely combining production with science and technology.

It took measures to properly work out a plan for production and supply and realize the overall technological updating of the hot and cold rolling production processes.
