Projected Launch of Satellite Kwangmyongsong-3 Hailed
Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- Officials, scientists, teaching staff and students in the fields of science and education in the DPRK are excited to hear the news that the DPRK is to launch Kwangmyongsong-3, an earth observation satellite, to mark the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung.

Ri Ui Gu, vice-president of the State Academy of Sciences, said the launch of Kwangmyongsong-3, which marks an epoch-making milestone in the history of space science and technology development, is a brilliant fruition of leader Kim Jong Il and the dear respected Kim Jong Un's wise guidance which instilled inexhaustible strength and courage into the scientists and technologists of the DPRK to conquer space for peaceful purposes.

Its Department Director Pak Sung Chol said:

Satellite launche is something to be desired and envied by many countries in the world as it is monopolized by a few countries. The launch of an earth observation satellite, 100 percent indigenous, indicates that the DPRK has proudly ranked itself among space powers, he added.

Prof. and Dr. Kim Il Kwang, a candidate academician and vice-president of Kim Il Sung University, said with confidence:

The launch of an earth observation satellite is a proof that the DPRK has made leaping progress in space science and technology and has a solid groundwork for launching satellites for practical use and their regular operation.

Ri Son Guk, head of a department of the University, extended warm congratulations to the scientists and technologists in the field of space science and technology, noting Kwangmyongsong-3 is a precious gift dedicated by them to the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung.

Merited Scientist, Dr. and Associate Prof. Ri Won Chol, vice-president of Kim Chaek University of Technology, pledged himself to perform bigger feats in training talents of science and technology and in the drive to break through the cutting edge.

Dr. and Assistant Prof. Jo Se Yong, president of University of Sciences, said: I feel as if I were looking down at the earth aboard our satellite flying in the space. The world will clearly witness once again the spirit of Songun Korea, pushing back the frontiers of latest science and technology.
