Korean People Confident of Successful Satellite Launch
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean Committee for Space Technology made public a statement at noon Friday that the DPRK will launch an application satellite, Kwangmyongsong-3, manufactured by local scientists and technicians.

Upon hearing the news on TV and radio, professors of Kim Chaek University of Technology have been gripped by a great joy, considering it an auspicious event of the nation.

Prof. and Dr. Jo Jong Thae of the university told KCNA:

"Our scientists and technicians laid solid scientific and technological foundations for the forthcoming satellite launch, through the successful launch and operation of experimental communications satellite Kwangmyongsong-2 in Juche 98 (2009). No doubt, Kwangmyongsong-3 will be successfully put into orbit at one try."

Prof. and Dr. Ko Kyong Dal, a candidate academician, said:

"The news about Kwangmyongsong-3, a complex of science and technology, delights me very much.

The DPRK owes the rapid progress of space science and technology to the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and general secretary Kim Jong Il, who laid solid foundations for the nation's science and technology and self-supporting economy.

The soon-to-be-launched Kwangmyongsong-3 will fully demonstrate the mightiness and dignity of the country."
