S. Koreans Denounce War Drills against DPRK
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Veterans of pro-reunification organizations of south Korea formed a sit-down group and launched joint actions with people from all walks of life in Seoul in protest against the DPRK-targeted war drills which were kicked off by the U.S. and south Korea.

The group held a joint press conference with the Women's Solidarity of south Korea on March 6.

At the press conference, the speakers bitterly denounced the U.S. for staging large-scale war drills for aggression, while giving lip-service to dialogue with the north and peace.

A series of military drills being scheduled in south Korea in March are aimed to create a favorable phase for the present conservative regime of south Korea with the general elections at hand, they said.

They urged the U.S. to stop the war drills escalating the military tension and opt to hold dialogue with sincerity.

On March 7, they launched a protest against the "government" authorities' push for building a Jeju naval base.

Next day members of different civic and public organizations, students and laid-off workers joined the sit-down group.

They held demonstration and made street speeches accusing Lee Myung Bak of posing threats to peace and the people's life with the war drills by toeing the U.S. line.

It is the only way for ensuring peace and keeping the people alive to unseat Lee Myung Bak, they noted.
