Korea, Inventor of Drilling & Blasting Operation
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- One of the world's invention books shows that the drilling and blasting method for mining was invented by an Austrian engineer in 1627.

However, Korea acquired this technique earlier than Austria, according to "Chronicles of King Sonjo", a book released during the Ri Dynasty (1392-1910).

The book says that in September 1606 a man, called Kim Kyong Rim, suggested to the then King Sonjo a drilling and blasting method with a purpose to exploit silver mine in Kyonggi Province of Korea.

The fact goes to prove that this method had been used in Korea before 1606.

In Korea, black powder was invented for military use during the Koryo Kingdom (918-1392).

The Korean nation has contributed to the development of human civilization by making lots of excellent inventions from olden times.
