Nationality of Lee Myung Bak Is Doubtful: Federation of Koreans in U.S.
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. on Sunday made public a commentary condemning Lee Myung Bak's treachery.

The commentary said that Lee Myung Bak of south Korea contributed an article to the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun one year after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

In the article Lee talked about "reaffirmation of genuine friendship and bonds" with Japan. He said he would render unreserved support to Japan in the future, too, noting that difficulties test a real friend, the commentary exposed.

But he did not even mention Koreans in tsunami-ravaged areas in Japan, it said, adding:

A large amount of relief fund sent by the north was evenly handed out to all disaster-stricken Koreans regardless of whether they belonged to Chongryon or Mindan, encouraging them to rise from despair.

This made the Koreans in Japan skeptical about his nationality as he did not render help to Koreans even though he gave help to Japan. This left Mindan-lined Koreans in Japan vulnerable from both Japan and the south Korean authorities.

Despite frantic aid from south Korea, Japan has kept insisting that "Tok Islets belong to Japan" and specified it in the Japanese history textbooks. It still goes without apology and reparation for his past crimes against Koreans.

The commentary cast doubt about Lee's nationality as he calls for "deep friendship and bonds" even though he was betrayed by Japan being hit on the back part of his head by it.

It derided "deep friendship and bonds" as pro-Japanese Lee Myung Bak's friendship and bonds with Japan.
