It pointed out that the present "government" has pushed forward the construction despite strong protest of islanders and peace activists.

The military authorities and "government" pressed for the construction regardless of the residents' demand since the time of choosing the site for the base, it said.

The military authorities have harshly suppressed for no proper reason those who opposed the base construction. This year alone they walked away and put into custody Kangjong villagers, peace activists and religionists, at least 150 in all, it condemned.

"Saenuri Party", citing theory of coloring, brought charges against those who insisted on the injustice of the base construction, it said.

The Jeju naval base construction should completely be stopped, it added.
