Lee Myung Bak "Government" Is Responsible for Blast of Rock on Jeju Island: S. Korean Paper
Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- South Korean newspaper Hangyore in an editorial on March 8 said anti-"government" spirit is mounting owing to the construction of naval base on Jeju Island pushed forward by the south Korean authorities.

It said: The military authorities at dawn on March 7 finally blew up Kurombi rock, a rare natural one in Kangjong Village of Jeju Island.

After the explosion, the inhabitants cried.

The Kurombi rock that was formed between 300,000 and 100,000 years ago is on the way to destruction.

What authority do they have?

It enraged not only inhabitants of Kangjong Village but other people.

Several decades have passed since the April 3 resistance on the Jeju Island. Kangjong Village in March is dim with grey smoke.

More than 600 policemen are in the village of some 1,000 inhabitants.

Hundreds of inhabitants were arrested in little more than two years and 109 were taken off this year alone.

The explosion of the Kurombi rock is the declaration of war against the Jeju islanders.

The trust and expectation of the inhabitants broke down.

Showdown between the "government" and the Jeju Island will follow.

Jeju Island this spring is facing angry waves.

We hope that they will withdraw from the rock.

All the responsibility for the conflict rests with the Lee Myung Bak regime.
