The commentary accused the south Korean authorities of finally deciding to blast the rare natural rock on the island to push ahead with the construction.

A large number of people from all walks of life in south Korea strongly protest the construction, branding it as very dangerous one escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula and bringing a war.

The Lee Myung Bak "government" deserves punishment because it has pushed ahead with the base construction even causing the environmental degradation, the commentary said.

Saying that Lee is contemplating offering the base to the U.S., the commentary noted that if it does so, the Jeju Island will turn into barren land at the hands of the U.S. forces, and peace be wantonly harassed.

Lee Myung Bak is, indeed, a pro-American traitor who lives his life only for the interests of the U.S., it charged, warning that the Lee's regime is sure to stand punishment by the people as it has turned its back on the people till the last period of its term of office.
