Tree-Planting Day Marked in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Meetings took place in various parts of the DPRK on Friday, the Tree-Planting Day, to vow to make dynamic efforts for the afforestation of the whole country.

President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and the anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk climbed up Moran Hill on March 2, 1946 and called for beautifully embellishing the mountains of the country.

This day became the Tree-Planting Day in the DPRK.

Present at the meetings were Choe Yong Rim, Kim Ki Nam and other senior officials and officials of the party, power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions and working people of various circles and school youths and students.

Reports and speeches were made at the meetings.

At the end of the meetings they planted trees at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site, the April 15 Children's Flower Garden, the arboretum of the Central Botanical Garden and the Mansudae area construction site.

On the same day officials of the Ministry of Railways, officials, working people and students in various provinces, cities and counties planted trees after holding meetings.
