Russia and Belarus Oppose West Sanctions
Moscow, February 29 (KCNA) -- Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and Byelorussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in a recent joint statement clarified their stands of opposing the West sanctions on Belarus.

In response to the U.S. and West sanctions on Belarus, the statement said Russia and Belarus do not allow any economic pressure or appliance of high-handed measures in relations among states.

Such measures amount to infringing on the legal economic interests of states and will adversely affect the ordinary people, in particular, it said.

Only dialogues based on equality and respect for each other can help remove international misunderstanding, it said, stressing any action laying an obstacle in the efforts for the dialogue should be refrained.
