S. Korean Organization Calls for Peace on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, February 29 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea held its regular meeting in Seoul on Feb. 25 where it called for making positive efforts for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

At the meeting the speakers accused the Intelligence Service of searching the houses and offices of the core members of the organization on Feb. 8 on charges of the violation of the "Security Law".

It is the organization's duty to drive the U.S. forces out of south Korea and realize the peaceful reunification, they noted, adding the latest crackdown is the last-ditch effort made by the conservative ruling forces, being afraid of the existence of the organization and its activities.

They clarified that they would work hard to ensure peace on Korean Peninsula, end servile relationship of alliance with the U.S. and defend the right to existence of the popular masses.

They declared they would direct efforts to ensuring the conclusion of a peace treaty this year, opposing the construction of a naval base on Jeju Island, opposing the DPRK-targeted joint military exercises with the U.S. and checking the import of the U.S.-made weapons.
