Birth Anniversary Commemorated in Foreign Countries
Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) -- Meetings took place in Bangladesh, Hungary, Bulgaria, Iceland and Romania on Feb. 12 and 13 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of general secretary Kim Jong Il.

Displayed in their venues were photos of his undying Songun feats and books and photos of Songun Korea.

Rashed Khan Menon, chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh, Hasanul Huq Inu, chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh National Socialist Party, Khaleq Zaman Bhuiyan, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh, MD. Harun-Ar-Rashid, chairman of the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee, and other speakers praised Kim Jong Il as a great master of ideas and theories who clearly indicated the way to independence.

Under his Songun leadership the DPRK has emerged political, ideological and military, scientific and technological power and proudly ranked itself among nuclear weapons states and the Korean People's Army has grown to be a matchless army, they stressed.

It is thanks to his Songun politics that the DPRK has firmly defended the sovereignty of the country and the nation despite all sanctions and pressures of the imperialists, they added.

Jon Arni Halldorsson, general secretary of the Iceland-DPRK Friendship and Cultural Society, said that Kim Jong Il was not only the great leader of the Korean people but the political elder and distinguished leader recognized by the world.

Daniel Dediu, chairman of the Romanian Workers' Association, said he could not repress sorrow over the too early passing of Kim Jong Il, a great man.

We will always extend support to the Korean people in their dynamic struggle to reunify the country and build a thriving socialist nation under the leadership of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un true to the behests of Kim Jong Il.

Messages to Kim Jong Un were adopted at the meetings in Hungary and Bulgaria.
