S. Korea's War Exercises against DPRK Slammed
Pyongyang, February 18 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations in south Korea protested against the war exercises against the north planned by the U.S. and south Korea. They held the 149th action for independent reunification and peace in the Kwanghwamun area in Seoul on Feb. 14.

They denounced the present regime for planning to stage Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military drills with the U.S. from Feb. 27 with more than 20 000 troops and huge war equipment involved.

The exercises will include the biggest landing drill.

Key Resolve is the biggest one aimed to occupy the northern part of Korea, they said, giving the lie to the U.S. and the south Korean authorities' claim that the drills are aimed to "defend" south Korea.

The present regime is escalating the tension on the Korean peninsula by holding the war exercises and, at the same time, stepping up the clampdown on progressive forces which aspire after peace and reunification, they held.

They said they would try in solidarity with the patriotic people to have the dangerous exercises canceled.
