Sunrise on Mt. Paektu
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- There was a majestic sunrise on Mt. Paektu this morning, the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

The Group for Comprehensive Exploration of Lake Chon on Mt. Paektu viewed it with great excitement.

According to the survey of the group, it was hard to see even an inch ahead because of dense fog as it has been snowing for several consecutive days in the area of Mt. Paektu.

Marvelously, the thick clouds vanished from Feb. 15, bringing a fine weather.

As it dawned on Feb. 16 the area of Mt. Paektu including the snow-capped Janggun and Hyangdo Peaks were shining with morning glow.

The temperature on Janggun and Hyangdo Peaks registered 29.6 to 28. 6 degrees below zero, slightly higher than that last year and there was rare southeastern wind 12 to 16 meters per second unlike northwestern wind which mainly hit the area.

The temperature on Jong Il Peak was relatively warm; it registered 22.9 to 22.6 degrees below zero and there was northeastern wind at the speed of 5 ~ 7 meters per second.

The sun rose at 7:21, shedding bright rays all over mountain ranges and vast forests in the area of the mountain.

It was fantastic scenery as the morning glow was unusually majestic and bright as if it were upholding the sun.

The panoramic view of Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan secret camp looked more beautiful.
