Illustrious Commander of Mt. Paektu and Frost Flowers
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- The shore of Sobaek Stream is spectacular with frost flowers on the Day of the Shining Star (Feb. 16), the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il. The stream meanders around Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan secret camp.

On Feb. 16, Juche 31 (1942) when Kim Jong Il was born, frost flowers were all over the area. They seemed to celebrate the historical day when a shining star rose over Mt. Paektu.

A newspaper of Pakistan said February is a month when the spring starts in the DPRK, adding:

People in the DPRK call February a season of frost flowers. Looking at frost flowers, they feel happy and warm. Kim Jong Il was born in February carrying the warmth of the flowers with him.

Seeing a picture of frost flowers in the area of Lake Samji one day, Kim Jong Il recollected the frostwork in the area of Phothae and that in Mt. Paektu.

He always loved people and devoted his all to them, keeping the frost flowers in his mind.

He met all the challenges of history and brought eternal spring of happiness and prosperity to the Korean people.

The frost flowers in February will always remain in the minds of all the servicepersons and people of the DPRK.
