Korean People's Just Cause Supported at Meeting of Int'l Organization
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- The meeting of the Executive Committee of the Women's International Democratic Federation held in Portugal from Feb. 3 to 7 expressed support and solidarity for the just cause of the Korean people.

The meeting decided on the issue of commemorating the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung and the 70th birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il as a grand political festival common to mankind.

It also adopted a statement supporting the Korean people and women in their struggle to ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula and achieve the independent reunification of the country.

Accusing the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet group of planning to stage joint military exercises for invading the DPRK from the outset of the new year, the statement branded them as acts of escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula and laying an obstacle to the Korean people's cause of national reunification.

Urging the U.S. to roll back its hostile policy toward the DPRK and stop the moves for beefing up armed forces and the military exercises for aggression against the DPRK, the statement said:

For the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea the U.S. should withdraw its forces for aggression from south Korea and accept the DPRK's proposal for replacing the armistice agreement with a peace agreement.

We fully support the Korean people and women in their struggle to defend the sovereignty of the country and ensure peace and security on the Korean Peninsula under the banner of Songun and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country according to the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration.

We will boost cooperation and solidarity with the women and other people of the DPRK in their struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country against imperialism on the forefront of the anti-imperialist struggle.

A letter to the dear respected Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting.
