Day of Shining Star Marked Abroad
Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries on the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il (the Day of the Shining Star). A seminar and photo exhibition were held in Nepal, a seminar in Germany, an opening ceremony of the ten-day photo exhibition in Nigeria, round-table talks, film show and photo exhibition in Iran and an opening ceremony of Korean film week in Democratic Congo between Jan. 31 and Feb. 7.

The chairman of the Nepali National Preparatory Committee for Commemorating the 70th Birth Anniversary of Leader Kim Jong Il in his speech said the birth of Kim Jong Il as the shining star over Mt. Paektu on Feb. 16, 1942 was the fortune for the Korean people and the world oppressed popular masses.

The chairman of the Brandenburg State Committee of the Communist Party of Germany said at the seminar the decision of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK on instituting the birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il as the Day of the Shining Star is an expression of the loyalty and noble obligation of the party, government and people of the DPRK for him.

The Director of the Art and Cultural Council of the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria said at the ceremony that the African people will always remember the material and moral support rendered by Kim Jong Il for the building of new societies in developing countries, African countries in particular.

Messages to the dear respected Kim Jong Un were adopted at the events in Nepal and Germany.
