IS Urged to Halt Its Repressive Campaign
Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- Seven organizations including the Bar Association for Democratic Society, the Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society, the Peace Network and the Women's Society for Peace of south Korea issued a joint statement condemning the fascist actions taken by the Intelligence Service (IS).

The statement accused the IS of forcibly searching on Feb 8 houses and offices of four leading members of the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification including O Hye Ran, its secretary general.

Recalling that the authorities are indiscriminately suppressing those organizations desirous of peace and reunification on charges of violation of "Security Law", the statement noted that this is a reckless action to stamp out those organizations.

The actions for U.S. troops' pullout from south Korea, abrogation of alliance between south Korea and the U.S., the dismantlement of "UN Command", etc., which the IS claimed were staged according to the north's instructions were conducted not only by the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification but by many other civic and social organizations, it charged.

It demanded the authorities immediately stop the crackdown upon the just activities of the above-said organizations.
