S. Korea's Hypocritical Talk about Issue of Separated Families and Relatives under Fire
Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- The Unification Ministry of south Korea calls for the "settlement of the issue of separated families and relatives", trumpeting about the "positive backing for reunions and exchange", says Rodong Sinmun in a bylined commentary Monday. This claim, however, is sophism that can convince no one, the paper says, and goes on:

Following the agreement to settle the issue of separated families and relatives at the historic meeting in Pyongyang and in the June 15 joint declaration, the north and the south have worked hard for them.

Had the present authorities of south Korea sincerely implemented the inter-Korean declarations, no issue would have cropped up as regards the issue.

One or two reunions of separated families and relatives between the north and the south that had been made under the present conservative "government" were a result of magnanimity and sincere efforts made by the DPRK.

The Lee Myung Bak group defied the DPRK that was open to improving the relations with the south but escalated confrontation with the DPRK, completely scuttling the reunions that were even few and far between.

Those who turned away from implementing the inter-Korean declarations and vociferate about the "May 24 measure" are now pretending to be interested in the "reunion" of separated families and relatives. This is a red herring to divert the mindset of people elsewhere.

The mean wordplay designed to ease the people's resentment is just aimed to cover up the true colors of the confrontation policy against the DPRK and tide over the worst ruling crisis.
