Deployment of U.S. Marines in S. Korea under Fire
Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea denounced the deployment of Okinawa-based U.S. marines in south Korea. It held a news conference outside the U.S. embassy in Seoul on Feb. 9.

The organization said the U.S. is reviewing the plan for moving some forces of its marines based on Okinawa of Japan to south Korea.

The deployment in south Korea of a typical offensive unit specializing in landing would coil up the tension of the Korean Peninsula, it said.

Such a move of the U.S. pursuant to its new military strategy is aimed to burden south Korea with the expense for the relocation of the U.S. forces in Japan and furthermore push forward the triangular military nexus among south Korea, the U.S. and Japan, it added.

In June 2010, Lee Myung Bak told the U.S. chief executive that south Korea would like to provide some land needed for the transfer of the U.S. military base in Japan, it deplored.

The authorities deny this, but Lee Myung Bak is so much steeped to the pro-U.S. and pro-Japanese idea to the marrow of his bones as to do such a humiliating act. The deployment of the U.S. marines in south Korea is attributable to the sycophantic traitorous attitude of the ruling quarters, the organization said, stressing:

The allowance of the deployment would risk the fate of the ruling quarters.

It is natural for the U.S. to vacate its overseas bases.
