S. Korea: MBC Unionists' Strike Supported
Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- More than 80 civic and public organizations in south Korea jointly held a press conference on February 7 in support of the general strike by the MBC trade union.

In a press release the organizations expressed full support for the strike which urges the resignation of MBC Manager Kim Jae Chol, a waiting maid of power, and calls for impartial information.

They pointed out that MBC has been reduced to a meaningless entity due to the Lee Myung Bak "government's" control over media for the past four years.

MBC has collapsed since Lee appointed his close associates as its manager and directors, they said.

Such being the case, Kim Jae Chol and other associates have not examined themselves but are running amuck to repress the just strike while threatening the unionists involved in it, they charged.

They held that the only way to save the MBC is to remove the present chief executive and his stooges as early as possible.

They declared that the civic and public organizations would actively join the trade union's righteous strike and struggle to the last.
