Fact-Finding Group on Drafting of Koreans Meets
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- A 2012 national consultative meeting of the Fact-Finding Group for the Probe into the Truth about the Forcible Drafting of Koreans took place in East and West Japan from Jan. 28 to Feb. 4.

Present there were those concerned of the civic organization active in the work related to the history and human rights issue of Koreans in different parts of Japan.

Reports on the activities conducted in 2011 were made by representatives from various parts of Japan which were followed by speeches.

Jin Kil Sang, vice-chairman of the Rights and Welfare Committee of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, referred to the fact that since the Fact-Finding Group was formed, it has conducted activities for solidarity with human rights, peace and friendship organizations of Japan in order to probe the truth behind the crimes committed by Japan and solve the human rights issue of the Koreans in Japan.

He accused Japan of still slapping sanctions upon the DPRK and persistently enforcing an undisguised policy of discrimination against the Koreans in Japan including the exclusion of the Korean schools from the tuition-waiver program for senior high schools, etc.

He noted that the group's future activities should provide an occasion of making a new advance in the history of the Koreans in Japan and their human rights issue and normalizing the relations between the DPRK and Japan, bringing earlier the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and promoting friendship with Japan.

Hong Sang Jin, secretary general of the Central Headquarters of Koreans side to the fact-finding group, called for a more widespread movement for surveying remains of victims of the Japanese imperialists' forcible drafting and solving the human rights issue of the Koreans in Japan.

The meeting discussed and decided on an action program for this year which calls for publishing books "The history and human rights of Koreans in Japan" and "Records of the Fact-Finding Group for the Probe into the Truth about the Forcible Drafting of Koreans" and holding an inter-regional study, meeting, seminar, etc.
