Intense Cold Hits Korea in 35 Yrs
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The severest cold since 1977 has hit the Pyongyang area.

The highest temperature on Feb. 1 was recorded 12.3 degrees Celsius below zero, 11.6 degrees lower than the average. The lowest temperature on Feb. 2 registered 18.7 degrees Celsius below zero, 7 degrees lower than the average.

Other areas of the country also experienced the temperature dropping lower than the average.

Meteorologists say this cold is expected to persist till the first half of the month.
