Stop to Projected War Exercises Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Progress of south Korea made public a statement on Jan. 30 blasting the puppet bellicose forces for their projected dangerous exercises for a war against the DPRK.

The statement referred to the fact that the south Korean military authorities are going to stage large-scale Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises targeting against the DPRK in collusion with the U.S. forces from Feb. 27 to April 30.

They are contemplating staging Ssangryong joint war maneuver, a large-scale landing operation, during this period, it said.

The statement blasted the war-like actions of the military authorities to escalate the military tension on the Korean Peninsula through various kinds of war maneuvers and stage ceaseless largest-ever joint military drills.

Their plan to go ahead with offensive war maneuvers under simulated conditions of "contingency" in the DPRK is little short of undisguisedly laying obstacles in the way of improving the inter-Korean relations and escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen, it noted.

It urged the military authorities to cancel at once the above-said exercises aimed at wrecking peace on the Korean Peninsula and opt for peace.
