Academic Degrees and Titles Awarded to Merited Intellectuals
Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles went to intellectuals who made positive contributions to building a thriving nation with big scientific and technological successes through a dynamic drive to push back the frontiers of the latest science and technology on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

The title of candidate academician went to Jang So Ik, teacher at Kim Il Sung University, Kim Ryon Hoe, a teacher of Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, Ri Thae Sik, chief of an institute of the Academy of Agricultural Science, Pak U Sop, chief of a department of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering, and the title of professor to teacher Kim Chang Ryon and researcher An Hyo Sik of Kim Il Sung University, Yun Yong Hak, chief of a department of Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, Choe Sun Ok, room chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, and Ri Son Jong, researcher of the State Academy of Sciences.

Doctorate went to Jong Tong Gyu, teacher of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Mun Jong Ji, vice rector of Sinuiju University of Education No. 2, Ri Kwang Il, researcher of Chongjin University of Medicine, Yun Kwang Ryong, researcher of the State Academy of Sciences, Manager Jang Myong Hak and Section Chief Kang Yong Yong of the February 8 Vinalon Complex, Son Kwang Won, vice chief engineer of the Huichon Ryonha General Machine Plant, and others and the title of associate professor to 101 people.

An awarding ceremony took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday.
