Study Tour of Birthplace Launched in DPRK
Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- School youth and children from across the country started their study tour of leader Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan secret camp with the approach of the 70th anniversary of his birth.

A meeting for starting the tour took place in front of the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo Memorial Tower in Hyesan of DPRK's northern province of Ryanggang on Wednesday.

The participants laid floral baskets and bouquets before the statue of President Kim Il Sung at the tower and paid tribute to him.

At the meeting Jang Hyon Chol, secretary of the C.C., Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made a report which was followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers expressed their honor of taking part in the tour on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star and the will to more deeply grasp the revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu.

They stressed that they would glorify the immortal revolutionary careers and exploits of the great persons of Mt. Paektu with the iron faith that Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are always with them.

After the meeting, the study tour group started its march for Pochonbo, carrying the flags bearing the portraits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in its van.
