On Jan. 12 the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea released a special report on instituting February 16, the birthday of general secretary Kim Jong Il, as the Day of the Shining Star.

The poster, the first of its kind since the day was instituted, represents the firm faith and will of all service personnel and people to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem forever.

Depicted in the poster is Kim Jong Il's old home in the secret camp in Mt. Paektu against the background of Jong Il Peak standing high. Engraved in bold relief on it is Kimjongilia, immortal flower. Seen there are letters "70th birth anniversary of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il", "The Day of the Shining Star" and "Commemoration."

The poster helps recall with deep emotion the revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il, who, born in Mt. Paektu amid snowstorm, led the Korean revolution and the human cause of independence to victory for several decades and made a long journey in a snowstorm till the last moments of his great life.
